Dreams Really Do Come True
This weekend I went to Disneyland with 19 of my students. It was one of the funnest days of my entire life. It was so exciting to see the kids eyes get really big when they were about to go down the hill on Splash moutain, or to hear them laugh at the cheesy jokes on the Jungle Cruise. Their comments to me also put a little smile on my heart. My little Louie came up to after about an hour in the park and said, "Ms. Mangum now I know why they say that dreams come true here." Another one of my students, Andres, about half way through the day said,"Dreams really do come true, I dreamed all my life that I would go to Disneyland and now I'm here." "Sleeping" on the bus for two nights was an adventure and I could tell that the kids I told they would regret not sleeping the first night wished they had taken my advice. The lines were short, the enthusiasm was high, and Pineapple Ice Cream was as good as ever. For most of these kids this was their first time at any kind of amusement park and they loved the rollercoasters the best. Every time we went on a rollercoaster they would say that it was their favorite, until we went on our last one of the night, Space Mountain, and they said that was definately their favorite. As far as Space Mountain and my knack for demanding good customer service, we got to ride a second time without having to wait in line. It was such a good reward for all the hard work that my kids have put in this school and all I can do is echo the kids in saying, "again, again, again."
